Susan Glickman joined the clergy team at Temple Beth Avodah in Newton, Massachusetts, as Cantorial Soloist in July 2008. With a warm and accessible voice that draws people to participate in a style of worship that elevates the spirit, Susan brings to Beth Avodah a fresh musical vision that blends tradition and contemporary musical styles into an authentic prayer experience. Under Susan’s direction, the music program at Beth Avodah has grown to include a vibrant youth choir, a talented teen choir, and a new teen song leading program.
Summers at Jewish Summer camp and song leading in NEFTY informed and shaped Susan’s love of Jewish music. Susan is a graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, as well as Wheelock College in Boston, where she earned her M.S. Ed. Over the years she has continued her Judaic and Cantorial Studies both formally and privately. Before coming to Beth Avodah, Susan served in a part-time Cantorial position at Temple Israel in Boston and as Rosh(a) Ruach at the the Rashi School[SN3] .
Susan and her husband, Jim, live in Needham, Massachusetts, with their two almost grown children, Elana and Benjamin, and their adorable mini-goldendoodle, Daisy. Susan is a member of the Woman Cantors Network (WCN) and the Guild of Temple Musicians (GTM).
